This isn't a petty stand by the Giants. The Giants secured loans to build their home ballpark with the understanding that they had exclusive rights to an area that includes San Jose. The A's agreeing to never move to San Jose helped the Giants finance their own ballpark without taxpayer support. The A's now want to break that agreement, which could affect that outstanding Giants' debt service on AT&T Park, so that the A's can have taxpayers build them a stadium.
The Giants didn't move because they built a new stadium on their own when San Francisco or even San Jose wouldn't build them one. Let the A's find investors to build them a stadium. I'm sure Sacramento, where the A's have exclusive rights, would be happy to approve zoning changes and tax breaks to make it happen there.
