I hope Flowers magically learns how to hit over the winter. If not, that's a lot of production lost. And don't give me the defense thing, that's overrated for catchers, this isn't shortstop or centerfield.

Catcher is indeed a defensive position, especially with the steroid era ending.

I agree, having said that I think that Flowers has a lot of the same defensive liabilities that AJ has (struggles with balls in the dirt). I will grant that Flowers has a better arm than AJ.

I'm very uncertain of that- but there are some interesting 2nd half comparisons for AJ vs. Flowers-

AJ- .269 BA, .311 OBP, .470 SLG, .781 OPS
Flowers- .253/.337/.507/.840

Flowers only had 1/3 of the ABs- but AJ definitely tailed off in the 2nd half-that might have influenced the final decision- among other factors.

Nobody needs that. The hope shared by many is that Flowers will improve with regular at-bats. It's not easy for anyone to hit Major League pitching in limited at-bats. Playing once a week would be tough on even the best hitters.

Depends on whether "my wife and I" are the subject of the sentence, or the recipients of the action. Both of these uses are correct:

"My wife and I loved our time in Chicago."

"Sox fans always treated my wife and me with respect."
