True, but he is another year older and missed all of 2012. I don't know that he will come back as the 2011 Victor Martinez. Unless the Tigers are looking to make Martinez their everyday catcher, which doesn't seem likely, I don't see them re-signing Young. In 2012, I don't think the Tigers would have won the division without Young, not necessarily because of his numbers, but because of some very timely hitting.
Not that I believe Young is an MVP candidate. I don't think the Tigers would have won the division is Cabrera or Fielder had down years. |
