Happy double anniversary to you and yours, October26!

This day in 2005 feels like it just happened yesterday, and then again it feels like it was an eternity ago.

I can't believe it's been seven years. Here's hoping the Ventura regime can lead us to the Promised Land again soon!

Saw the Sox in the 1959 World Series and had to wait another 46 years for another appearance and with a victory. At 67 years of age and with the track record of the franchise, 2005 might be it for me. That is why 2005 was so special and sometimes I still have to pinch myself to make sure 2005 wasn't a dream.
The Sox in their long history have a lifetime .506 winning percentage which is something to be proud of as a fan but it's still hard to believe that the Sox have never made the post-season 2 years in a row.

Sox went 11-1 in the post season which is mind blowing. This postseason Detroit has already lost 4 and San Fran has already lost 5.

If we ever win another I doubt it will be as dominant as the 2005 Sox.

Thanks, Fielder! I absolutely love the Flintstones and really enjoyed that video.

Happy Anniversary to you and the lovely Mrs. Fielder Jones!

October26 - Thank you to the 2005 World Series Champions Chicago White Sox!
October26 - Twenty-SEVEN years ago, I married my husband on October 26. Since that day, we have been blessed with a wonderful family. Then, on October 26, 2005, when the baseball gods bestowed their good fortunes upon us, we saw the White Sox win the World Series. An incredibly talented team of grinders made every Sox fan's dream come true. My family and I celebrated with reckless abandon. And now, we look forward to that day when our White Sox will once again be World Series Champions!

Great post, Little Nell. I enjoy reading your perspective here on WSI. It's great that you've seen the Sox in two World Series (albeit 46 years apart). That 2005 White Sox team was a very special group of grinders and every time I watch my WS DVD's, I still get goosebumps!

I also find that stat about the Sox not making the playoffs two years in a row unbelievable, although I know it is true. Here's hoping that stat changes starting in 2013!

The key for another title run is getting this team in the position where it makes the playoffs most years.
That's been the disappointing part since the run. The franchise revenues are up, but the team went back to its middling irrelevance.

Hopefully they can find another WS winner soon!

Greatful for 2005 as well. Thank God for the invention of DVD's and the pause/replay button. After a crap game I toss in an inning or two of 2005 magic to salve the wound.

Yup, one dream realized, still looking for the back to back repeats as well. Odds are getting better with the advent of the extra WC play in, so could happen before you hit 100.

Seven years and counting. Then again, they Bears are 27 years and counting.

Problem is that only 3 or so original teams, older than 50 plus years, have a worse winning percentage.Expansion and the like have inflated the records. The Cubs are like .514 and fourth or fifth all time in winning percentage. The thing that is kind of surprising is the near identical records of the Tigers and Sox, just a very few games all-time. That's amazing over 100 plus years.

There's probably 25 fanbases that feel no sympathy for us whatsoever.

Sorry to ruin the pity party you're all having

The Cubs got to .514 probably from their good years before 1900 and also in the 20s and 30s. Since their last WS appearance in 1945 they have to be under .500 despite expansion. Without looking it up I would say that the Sox were over .500 before the first expansion in 1961 due to the years of the Go-Go teams of the 50s and before the 1919 scandal
