A rare day in which we lose and actually GAIN ground. I hope JB delivers an anti-version of his trademark Twins line.

Thanks for telling me Verlander was hurt, Hawk. He stayed in the game.

Tigers win 6-2, have beaten Kansas City eight out of 12 this year.
It sure would help if Kansas City could play these guys the way they play the Sox. Detroit doesn't seem to have a lot of trouble scoring runs off their 'vaunted' pitching staff. Although I don't think anybody thought Verlander was going to lose to them. Lip |

The Royals scored 8 runs off of Verlander the last time they faced him a couple of weeks ago,also....not something the Sox seem capable of doing. I still have faith that the Royals, with Mendoza,Chen and Guthrie the next three days, will get a couple of these games....and then they get Chen,Guthrie and Smith next week in KC....Guthrie has continued his roll. |

It isn't as if the Royals are "laying down for the Tigers." The Royals beat Verlander at the end of August in Kansas City despite the Tigers scoring three runs in the top of the first. I believe it was Verlander's worst start of the season, 8 earned runs before he was knocked out in the sixth. After losing 9-8 in the opener of the series, the Tigers scored just 1 run in their next 18 innings in Kansas City. And considering that the White Sox have picked up a game on the Tigers since they were swept on their final visit to Detroit, it isn't like the Tigers have been doing a better job against against the rest of the league than the White Sox. In looking at the remaining schedule this weekend, I expected the Tigers to lose at least three more games to the Royals. But I didn't expect the Tigers to lose two games to the Twins on Sunday. |

Immigrant:
The Royals pitching staff is ranked in the bottom of the league in most categories, yet this "stellar" staff held the Sox to three runs or less in (drum roll please...) 12 of the 18 games. Just sayin' Lip |
