On to the 8th. I'm not going to be as greedy as doublem. I'm only looking for 1 - 37 insurance runs this inning.

At the very least, you hope Oakland can play itself into a situation where Cabrera cannot impact the outcome.

Nice inning for Cook, retiring Cabrera, Fielder and Young consecutively.

"If they come up with 37, they'll lead 43-4."

A finish like the one Monday would work for me. Hell of a job by Cook in the sixth and seventh.

Meanwhile, Al Alburquerque is striking A's out left and right.

One thing Ed has proven through the years: If you say, "A long one here, and..." enough, eventually someone will hit a long one and you can claim you correctly predicted a home run.

Anyone know who is closing for the A's these days? Is it still Grant Balfour?

We go to the 9th. 6-4 A's. It's 9-1-2 for Detroit. 3 up, 3 down would be nice - he says mastering the obvious.

Balfour's gotten 11 of the A's past 14 saves dating back to mid-August so probably him, but it looks like they haven't been shy about using Jerry Blevins or Ryan Cook at times.
