They said Scherzer went straight to the clubhouse with the trainer after the 2nd inning.

Edit: "Right shoulder fatigue" is what was described. Will have an MRI.

3-1, though this early exit bodes well for the Sox as their bullpen will be eaten up for the rest of the series.

As long as the Sox keep winning, it does not matter what they do.

Pay attention to the Rays. Their elimination number is 11 currently and they're down to the Red Sox. If they are out of it by next week, we could be facing a completely different dynamic.

It'll be interesting to find out what the MRI shows but even more interesting if it is not serious, does Detroit skip him a start or feel they have to pitch him regardless because of the circumstances.

Kitties up 2-0 in the 3rd. Oakland has 5 soft hits against Verlander so far but nothing to show for it.

edit: Detroit still batting with bases loaded and 1 out; Brett Anderson out with some sort of injury.
