Hats off to a living legend in White Sox history. He's one of those you thought would be around forever.

Met Moose a bunch of times are pre game parties. Always took time to chat, pose for photos, etc. Went to a game a few years ago through my wife's work and had the PGP. Moose came up to my wife and asked what had happened to her (since she walks on crutches). Sat down and talked to her for a good ten minutes. Scolded her because she's a Cub fan but because she was married to me "we'er gonna let dat one go". Needless to say, my wife was impressed.
We will miss you Moose. Good man.

I just heard the sad news about Moose passing away. I too was lucky enough to meet him a few times, and he was always a pleasant and cordial guy. He had so many great baseball stories.
I'll never forget the first time I met him was at Lindy's Chili on Archer back in the early 90's. I pointed out a picture of Carlton Fisk I took that the owner had hung on the wall. Moose pointed to the upperdeck and he said to me, "I hit a ball over that roof back in 19??." (I forget the year....but Moose didn't) He had amazing recall on games he played in. A great guy and great storyteller. He will be sorely missed. R.I.P. Moose and thanks for the autograph! |

I think that one of the greatest tributes to Moose is that, despite the fact that he was part of that Yankees team that drove us Sox fans crazy, he was beloved by the same Sox fans.
RIP, Moose. You will be missed.

I loved listening to Moose and Farmio laugh it up when he was up in the booth. By all accounts, he had a great life. RIP, Moose.

Have both audio and video of Moose when he played for the Sox in the mid 60's. He wasn't the player he was with the Yankees but he was pretty damn good.
Had the chance to meet him when I went back home in July 2010, up in the booth we watched as the Sox were beating the A's and Gio Gonzales. Very nice guy, told it straight with the bark off and if you didn't like it he could care less. Our conversation somehow got around to Ron Santo and he let him have it both barrels regarding his campaigning for the Hall of Fame, was biting my lip to keep from laughing out loud. When we talked Moose was still actually pissed that the Sox missed the pennant by one game in 64, he told me he would have been the first player to play in the World Series three straight years with three different teams. (Yankees in 62, Dodgers in 63, White Sox in 64) Then he just shook his head and said, 'can you imagine we missed it by one game?' He'll be missed. Lip |

Sad news. He truly was one of a kind. I loved Moose and enjoyed whenever he visited either the radio or TV booth during the games. He seemed like a great guy and he will be missed. God bless his family at this time of loss.
