Aw damn, he was a classic character and more or less made a second career of media appearances. The baseball equivalent to Art Donovan. Gonna miss him.

A few years ago, I was sitting in the box with Chris Rongey. Moose was in the booth as well and made a comment about the hat I was wearing, which was faded. Five minutes later. Moose returned with a new hat for me. I'll never forget it.
RIP Moose. |

Thank you Moose.
You made my elderly dad laugh endlessly when you would do your radio/TV interviews. Three years ago, when he met you at The Cell before a game, it really made his night. That, in turn, made for a memory of myself and my father that will last a lifetime. May you rest in peace. |

Bill was a heck of a Chicago guy and a great athlete.

I echo the other comments about enjoying his visits to the broadcast booth. It was like being transported to an earlier time in baseball. RIP, Moose.

When I was a kid Bill Scowron (his nickname Moose wasn't on his baseball card or the radio yet) was the definition of a first baseman.

Met him numerous times at season ticket holder events, what a character. i loved when he sat in for an inning during the broadcasts. He was a Chicago original.
