Yes, Inge sucks. He'll hit like Morel but field like Betemit. And probably hit like Betemit.

I'd pass on Inge, BTW.
Eldred has been a AAAA masher for years. He was in the Sox system in 2008 and hit 30-something HR for the Knights. Everytime he gets called up to the Majors, he falls apart.

Inge's career .691 OPS begs to differ. That's especially poor production from a third baseman.

Default Brad Inge

Could he actually hit worse than Brent Morel? The White Sox are going to have to make a change at third base. I hope its sooner rather than later. I don't know if Inge would be the answer, but something has to be done soon.

Actually, yes: http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...ingebr01.shtml

Just say no to a has-been .234 career hitter.

Wouldn't have thought 20+ posts were needed to reach this conclusion.

I know we're all sour on Morel right now, and rightfully so, he has had a brutal April. But Brandon Inge?

Would rather just try out McPhearson or Conor Jackson.

Saw him end the game I was at two weeks ago. My dad commented that he couldn't believe he was still on the team. Guess it didn't hurt to see him in a Tigers uniform one last time.

I think our view of Inge is skewed a bit because he always seemed to play like an all star against us. Diving catches, clutch HRs, etc.

On the car radio this morning, I heard San Francisco sports writer Ray Ratto say the A's cut a non-productive prospect in order to sign a non-productive veteran.

I don't know if that's an accurate assessment of the situation other than the signing. I have seen baseball writers who claim to be insiders miss things and get them a bit wrong because players and coaches consider them arrogant. But essentially the Tigers are going to be paying Inge not to play for them and even against them. The A's get a player under contract for $6 million and only have to pay him the minimum, which is $480,000 for the entire season. Not that being a $6 million man is all that impressive any more.

Just a week ago, the A's claimed Luke Hughes from the Twins. The dozens of people who go to the A's games might be asking, "who's on third?"

If I want to see a reclaimation project I'll watch "Holmes on Homes". Pass on this guy as well. Hoseheads a little tainted by his Sox killer moments, but over the long run he's declined like the stock on VHS tape rewinders..
