Default Lillilbridge Catches: #10 Best Finish of 2011

According to MLB Network. They're ranking the top 40 finishes of 2011. The Lillibridge game in New York is #10, surprisingly high based on some of the higher-profile finishes ranked behind it (including that 19th-inning blown-call at home plate between Atlanta and Pittsburgh).

#7 on the list: The Santos meltdown in Detroit.

When I first read this, I was thinking of suggesting you be more specific. But, of course, this meltdown was in Detroit and actually finished the game.

I would have rated Lillibridge higher as the most memorable defensive takeover of a one-run ninth inning by a position White Sox player on the road since Juan Uribe in late October 2005.

I was there, up a bit and along the right field line so I got a great look at both, but especially the final catch. The place was full of absolutely stunned Yankee fans. Best finish I have ever seen in person.

Searched ESPN, Mark Simons' defensive pick based on context vs quantity is Lillibridge who played only two innings and handled two chances.

The #1 best finish of 2011 for me was getting this train wreck of a White Sox season over....

I like Mark Simons. I enjoy his work on the ESPN Baseball Today podcast when he's on during the season.
