Default Interesting profile of John W. Henry (Red Sox owner)

The ESPN Magazine which is featuring Boston has mostly inane articles.

However Steve Wulf who is one of the most respected baseball writers around looks at Henry who has been the lead owner of Boston the last 10 years.

I learned more about him in the article than anything I have read in 10 years...

He gives a very telling quote about how he approaches running a baseball team.

Quote:
"You can't win in any sport without heavily concentrating on revenue generation. You have to be relentless in that regard if you are going to be able to afford the kind of players you need to compete at the highest level. There simply is no way around that."
It just dawned on me why it is wrong to compare Tom Ricketts to Henry as JWH started with nothing and made his own fortune and not being born into wealth.
