Over on FutureSox, they were postulating that the SOX draft strategery was to pick college players early, and high school players late in the draft. Their thought was that there is a big difference between a top ten round college player in the 1st 10 rounds and a college player in the last 10 rounds; For high school players, often there is scant difference between players drafted early and late.
I'm not suggesting this is a good plan or the right way to go, but it was nonetheless an interesting/optimistic take. http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/futu...-one.html#more |

What happened to some of the posts that were in this thread? Were they deleted? Crawdad suggested renaming this thread to include a "2011" in the title, and I responded, but now said posts are gone. Weird.

The preliminary Voyagers roster has been released, so some signings have likely occurred which include Blair Walters, Kyle McMillen, Blake Drake, Joeseph Dvorsky, Brent Tanner, Mark Haddow, Martin Medina, and Joe De Pinto.

White Sox 2nd round pick Erik Johnson should be pitching tonight for Cal against Dallas Baptist on ESPNU at 9 CST. 6th round pick, SS Marcus Semien and 13th round pick, C Chadd Krist should be playing as well for Cal.

Cal/Dallas Baptist game about to start, and Johnson is indeed on the mound.
Semien and Krist both in the lineup as well. |

Krist hit a 2 run HR in his first AB, and Semien followed it up with a 2B.

Johnson looks pretty average so far. It seems like he doesn't know where his pitches are going.
aaronfitt Aaron Fitt Seems to me that Erik Johnson's stuff isn't nearly as good as it is when he's at his best. Could be fatigue of season catching up with him. 2 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply |

6th-round pick. Athleticism, compact swing. Like him. RT @fallsrich: What kind of prospect is Marcus Semien seems like a complete player? 4 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply |

Middle infield could actually be a strength after this draft. It will be interesting to see these guys develop.
