I think the situation at 13 sucks. Laumann described the position as no-man's land. Since the Sox limit themselves primarily to cheap college pitchers and college position players, options are limited. A bunch of middle of the rotation starter types if things pan out, or a few underwhelming college bats.

I will be pretty indifferent if any of the college pitchers or Brentz are picked. This draft class is very underwhelming.
Right, the middle of the draft, and even late in the round for that matter, is so tough. Next year's draft will be very important for us (barring some remarkable turnaround). Like the Beckham draft, picking in the top 10 gives you far and away better choices than the middle of the pack.

I don't mind Wojo to be honest. Good fastball, power slider. He could be a nice starter if he develops his change, or he could be a good reliever/setup man/closer. He kind of fits the mold of the Poreda pick. Hopefully with better results though.

He isn't an ultra sexy pick, but there aren't many of those in this draft class.

Wojo's mechanics worries me a bit. He starts moving his lower half a bit slowly, he has a 'inverted W' and he recoils at the end. Other than that, yeah, I agree that he is a decent pick considering the other options that have come up so far. I guess I'm all caught up in the Castellanos bandwagon even though there is virtually zero chance Sox pick him.

More crazy rumors going around:

Frankie Piliere:
UPDATE: Word is that the DBacks would indeed take Barrett Loux over Pomeranz, but not over Chris Sale

Frankie Piliere:
UPDATE: Don't rule out a shock at #4 if Grandal falls through. How about this for shock? Bryce Brentz may be an option. Likely? No, but he's a name being tossed about.

We could see a crazy first round tonight.

True RT @n_schaef: @kevin_goldstein True or False: Asher W. has a higher ceiling than college arms like McGuire, Loux etc. due to velocity.

Pomz sliding:

Kevin_Goldstein
And a hell, yes to that. RT @keithlaw: Text from scouting director: "You hearing anything about Pomeranz sliding?" Yes, in fact.

It's getting fun. RT @keithlaw: @Kevin_Goldstein I'm also hearing from teams having "uh-oh" moments because they didn't discuss him enough. half a minute ago via TweetDeck

Frankie Piliere:
UPDATE: Grandal deal is in big trouble with KC. They thought they had a deal and KC doesn't seem too happy about them looking for more now.

Law is hearing Ruffin to the Reds. That would be a shocker.

If Grandal is available, White Sox would be interested. Wonder if money would get in way. #mlbdraft less than 10 seconds ago via OpenBeak

Frankie Piliere:
UPDATE: Hearing Bryce Brentz could end up in the last 5-6 picks of the first round
