Realistic options I like in the 2nd - 3rd round:

Workman, Eibner, Yordy, Eldemire, Golden, Bettis, Stanek, Solis, Smelter, and Cisco.

That's got to be part of our minor league woes...not working the system and getting all of these picks.

That's the caveat, to earn these extra picks, you have to run the risk of these guys believing they can do better on the open market, and considering how unfriendly free agency has been to some vets the last few years, it's debatable whether or not the Sox would offer arbitration to Konerko or AJ. Jenks, on the other hand, is not eligible to be a free agent until after the 2011 season. If he's not traded, the only way he doesn't come back next year is if the Sox don't even tender him a contract which, of course, does not earn you compensation draft picks.
Does anyone have a list of Type A and Type B free agents that the Sox declined to offer arbitration to (and thus pass on supplemental draft picks) since Magglio?

Did we offer arbitration to Cabrerra?

We did. Orlando signed with the A's who held the 13th pick of the 1st Round. Teams do not forfeit the Top 15 overall picks for FA Compensation, so the Sox received an extra pick in the Sandwich Round (#38 used to take C Josh Phegley) and then the A's pick in the 2nd Round (#61 overall used to select Trayce Thompson).

Interestingly, many sources are noting that the White Sox would have nabbed Grandal if the Reds hadn't taken him. They would have had to shell out some overslot dough for sure with him. Hopefully that money can be allocated to some premium players that are available in the coming rounds.

This rule does not apply to full free agent eligible veterans. It only applies to SAE players between 3 and 6 years of service time or "super 2" players.

Not always. They are notorious for taking guys like Austin Jackson and then giving them big out-of-line money.

I would love to see us grab a HS pitcher AJ Cole if he falls to 13. Not sure of his signability, but he projects as a top of the rotation of starter and isnt as raw as most HS pitchers.

Red Sox continue with a fantastic draft by selecting Workman.
