Brent Morel Promoted to AAA

The lone bright spot in AA has been promoted to Charlotte. No longer is there a need to check Birmingham's box scores.

He is really lighting it up.....hopefully he continues he recent play and Im sure if he does we will see him with the White Sox shortly.Btw do you have a link DirtySox fan?

I do not have a link. There likely isn't one just yet. I'm just re-posting what others with legitimate sources have stated.

Only 2.5 more years of Teahen until we get to see Morel!

last 10 games he was hitting .412......If he hits that in AAA I dont think we can wait 2.5 years

Just got this from Marty Maloney regarding today's conference call with Brent:

Guys,

I sincerely apologize, but this is simply a case of bad timing/luck. Brent has just been called up to Charlotte today and will be on a flight at 3:00 p.m. I cannot apologize enough for any inconvenience these cancellations have caused. We’ll give me a day or so to get settled but hope to have him on by the end of the week.

I'm pleased that the only "prospect" in the system that has a glove is being promoted. [Or is he merely a "suspect?"]

I'm also concerned about his development. Here's hoping that he isn't being rushed. I also hope that his bat progresses as much as his glove has up to this point.

It was a tiny 10 game sample size, and I'd prefer to give Morel more time per level to work on other aspects of his game. [Such as trying to develop power in addition to his high average.]

Besides, it's not exactly like he will be able to single-handedly turn the organization around. I fail to see any harm in him spending half a season in AA before moving to AAA. Let him make the AA All Star Game, and increase his trade value, for example. [EDIT] Or let him make Birmingham [marginally] watchable until reinforcements are promoted from A or demoted from AAA. Or let him enjoy being a STAR @ AA for a little while longer, while letting Viciedo get a few more innings @ 3rd base in Charlotte. [/EDIT]
