Sox Add 5 to the Roster

I am impressed with some of those guys they got from Colorado in the Contreras deal. A couple of the pitchers have some pretty good stats from last year.

This shows how weak the Sox are in pitching at the top levels of the system. None of these guys would be considered a top prospect, and they were added to the 40 man roster probably only so they would be exempt from the Rule V Draft in December.

The Sox added five guys to the 40 man roster protecting them from the Rule 5 draft. Outfielder Stefan Gartrell and RHPs Brandon Hynick, Santo Luis, Brian Omogrosso and Sergio Santos. The 40 man stands at 37 now, 38 if you add Vizquel.

Gartrell is an interesting OF prospect with some good numbers, Hynick was acquired in the Contreras trade, Luis in the Vazquez trade.

Anyone know of other intriguing guys we left unprotected that could be drafted by other teams next month?
