I don't see why they would trade him as they seem to be grooming him to replace AJ after 2010.

I'll stay on topic - boy would it be nice to actually have 2 real catchers on the Sox.

I would love it if the Sox kept both A.J. and Flowers for the 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons.

I have not seen anything yet to dislike Castro.

IMO, he calls a better game than AJ.

As long as Contreras throws like he has been, Castro should be retained.

My comment wasn't really directed at all toward Castro. What I'm saying is that I would like Flowers brought up slowly maybe late next year.

Then, re-sign A.J. for 2 more seasons. 2010 A.J. starts about 110 games with Flowers starting about 50 behind the plate and playing some 1B, DH and PH.

2011 split the playing time and then hopefully he'll be ready to play 130-140 games a season and we can say good bye to A.J.

Since we've only seen him catch for Contreras, it's hard to say. But...with Jose's success, we can't say he doesn't do a good job. I remember reading an interview where he said he did a little research on how to catch Jose. I'd like to see Castro catch Gavin for a game or two.

AJ is already signed through 2010. I think it's probably best to wait a year and see how Flowers develops. If Kenny thinks Flowers isn't quite ready, or needs to switch positions, then talk to AJ about an extension.
