Great to hear! Hopefully they sign him soon and get him on the next plane to Bristol.

Looking at all the young arms in our system (Upchurch, Hudson, Leesman, Shirek, Dex. Carter, now these kids), we could have some sick pitching depth in our system in a couple of years.

Prior to the game today on the radio, they were saying the Sox have 35 guys who have signed so far. I don't know who is missing off the list, but I noticed you only have 33. I just thought I'd point that out.

Phegley will be going to Kannapolis while the rest are going to Bristol.

Imagine if we somehow manage to get Justin Jones, Dane Williams, and Brian Goodwin. This could be an epic class.

We don't get a whole lot of MLB news out this way (other than big "nationally relevant" type stuff) since there ain't a big league team within 6 hours or so from here.

Kind of 2nd hand information but my sisters boyfriend is friends with our 36th round pick, Crowley. Originally it sounded like he was a lock to sign, but according to this guy now hes having second thoughts, he wants the education to fall back on. Little back story, the kids dad passed away, and hes very close with his mom. He choose Mizzou over better schools for baseball because of location. He wants to be able to take care of her and wants a fall back plan if baseball does not work. Can't blame him, especially as a round 36 choice it isn't like he will be banking much of a signing bonus.

From Wikipedia:

Starting in 2007, the deadline for signing a drafted player is August 15. A selected player who enters a junior college cannot be signed until the conclusion of the school's baseball season. A player who is drafted and does not sign with the club that selected him may be drafted again at a future year's draft, so long as the player is eligible for that year's draft. A club may not select a player again in a subsequent year, unless the player has consented to the re-selection.

Still plenty of time.

Thanks for the info. I was a student mgr. for his h.s. team many many moons ago. I'd still like to see him sign.

Me too. That is the school my sister attended, so I went and watched him throw a few times, he has tremendous stuff. But, you have to respect having a head on his shoulders too.
