White Sox Draft Preview
Not much substance, but it again mentions that the Sox might be going for a toolsy prep player with their first rounder. (Williams, Trout, Fuentes etc) |

Personally I take Purke. Tremendous arm, will fall because he is a tough sign. Its about time we spend like we can in the draft. Take a chance on a top 10 talent that falls to the 20s because of a large bonus. We pissed away more money releasing macdougal.

I would love to take that chance. I really want a high upside pitcher, but everyone seems to have us linked to High School outfielders in the first round. Keeping my fingers crossed though. I would be elated if we somehow drafted Skaggs in the supplemental round.

So, a lot of people want a prepster from the looks of things here and the other site. I gotta say, though, I'm not a big fan of any of the HS kids scheduled to go in the mid 20s. I don't see any of the top 5 prep pitchers making it to us, so I'm guessing a lot of people like James, Gould and Skaggs as far as arms go? With the lack of first round positional players, I don't see much chance for Borchering or Trout to make it to us either, and those are really the only two mide-late first HS batters I am interested in.

I would like to see a pitcher or a kid that could be a leadoff hitter

In a time where singability will be a really big factor (not that it isn't always), I think who the Sox end up with will be impacted by other teams ahead of us deciding whether or not the talent is worth the contract negotiations and ultimate $$$ price they could end up paying for them.

Here's a couple guys that I'd love to see us take a chance on if they're there in the middle rounds, plus they're both current/former two-sport athletes just like the players KW falls in love with:
David Cooke- played DB for Gardner-Webb and brings the speed to the basepaths, could be the only college athlete to amass 200 hits and 200 tackles in their NCAA career. I could see this guy becoming an instant fan favorite around here if we drafted him. Devon Dageford- former linebacker in high school, crushed the ball in a decent conference this year(.385/23/68/1.291 OPS). His size and athleticism remind a lot of Brandon Allen (makes sense since they were both linebackers in high school), if he's still around after the 15th round, I'd be willing to take a shot. |

Law released a new mock today, has us taking Rex Brothers. I would love if he fell to us.
