For those listening to the Barons, is Poreda throwing alot of offspeed pitches?

Also, Dexter Carter is pitching in the 2nd Kannapolis game tonight. He's a pitcher to keep an eye on.

Are you joking? Who cares? It's one start, and the Sox are likely changing some things with him. Remember that Floyd didn't start his turn around until June of 2007, before that he was terrible.

I don't know if he ever will, but Kenny has said there are things they want to work with on him. One bad start doesn't mean a thing. In fact, it could mean they're making some big changes.

BTW, living up to Jon Garland isn't much. Mid 4 ERA innings eater is what Jon Garland is. It's not like Kenny talked him up to ace quality.

checked him out and if the stats I saw are correct he did poorly in college. What has this guy done to turn things around? He was done well professionally although small sample size. Anybody have some info on this gentleman?

The Sox drafted him in a later round, and evidently he had some mechanical flaw in his delivery that they deemed correctable. After they smoothed said delivery issue over he has looked very good.

Dan Hudson is also someone to watch. He was Dexter Carter's teammate at Old Dominion and still is now with the Intimidators.

Very interesting reads. Dexter is said to have better stuff than Hudson? What a find. The Sox seem to have done farely well in the draft the last couple of years. Of course time will tell. Thanks for posting this.

Some noteworthy lines from yesterday:

Aaron Poreda - 4 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 4 K. He was throwing many changeups and sliders as he should be doing.

Tyler Flowers: 3 - 5 with a HR

Brandon Allen: 4 - 5 with 4 singles.

Gordon Beckham: 1 - 5

Dayan Viciedo: 1 - 4 with 3 K's and 1 error.

Jordan Danks: 0 - 4 with 2 K's.

Dexter Carter: 6 IP, 1 H 1 ER 1 BB 6 K. He did throw 2 wild pitches and hit 2 batters though.
