Hey, it's from 1997 and the Sox starter is someone named Clemons. I knew Schuler would come to his senses and sign Roger Clemens instead of Jamie Navarro! The Mariners lineup features 3 future Hall of Famers: A-Rod, Griffey, and Johnson.

I love it. We get some vintage Hawk and Wimpy announcing. God I hate Terry Bevington!

I don't suppose MLB network will show the game where Bevington called to the bullpen with no one warming up, will they? Does anyone remember what game that was?

Wow, what a blast from the past -- played on 8/8/97.
The guide is all screwed up, by the way, and not for the first time, either. Did anyone else see a couple innings back when Ozzie made all those faces and gestures after the double play he started was completed, the one that sent Junior to third? |

Are you crazy? The Sox'll get a piece of Johnson in the 9th.

Question to those who watch:
When this network is showing these All Time Games do they run that goofy crawl on the bottom...telling up such "important" information as who won the Caribbean World Series or what free agent 2nd baseman remain, forty times an hour? Thanks, Lip |

Lip thinks it takes away from the purity of the broadcast.
This must be a generation gap thing, because I hardly notice the crawl at the bottom, but yeah, it's there. I'm watching Kerry Wood's 20 K game against Houston in 1998 (say what you will, this is one hell of a pitching performance), and I've notice they occasionally toss in "information bubbles" into the broadcast... I've seen 1 per inning. It's stuff like "Jeff Bagwell had 191 career homers at this game, he retired with 340-whatever." It's still better than no baseball.

More than that. The box score the official attendance was 15,758.
I don't care if it's the Cubs, it's damn good to be watching baseball. |

Double:
I have no issues with the occasional "pop up" which is what you are describing. I'm trying to find out definitively if that crawl on the bottom, is on continuously during their reshowing of these classic games. Do you know one way or the other on that specific case? My beef with the "crawl" is the reason it was started in the first place... to provide up to the minute information for the stat geeks and fantasy players who have ruined sports. Yes to me it takes away from the broadcast and also takes up a part of the screen that should be used to show the game itself. Also a lot of the "information" is stupid. Like Bob Costas said during one of his HBO sports shows, "I'm trying to watch the Cubs-Mets game and I get Mel Kiper's 'mock draft' on the bottom of the screen...WHO CARES?" So if you or anyone else can answer the original question on the crawl, I appreciate the help. Lip |

Skobabe:
You can always watch baseball...anytime of the day, anytime of the year...just pull out your Sox tapes and or DVD's. You don't need a network to show you baseball when you want it. Lip |
