Actually I distinctly remember Stony giving glowing reviews about Masset rather than Danks right after that trade was made.

I don't consider that a glowing report. All I hear is that he's shown tremendous power and that's about it. Makes me think of one name:Borchard.
This kid might be a great hitter but if he's not a serviceable defensive catcher then the value isn't that great. Likely scenario,IMO, is that he hits well in AA in 2009, 2010 they see that he won't make it as a catcher and try him at 1B. He may be adequate there or even become a DH early in his career. I predict that his bat holds up and he's the Sox DH in 2011. |
