Actually I distinctly remember Stony giving glowing reviews about Masset rather than Danks right after that trade was made.

I don't consider that a glowing report. All I hear is that he's shown tremendous power and that's about it. Makes me think of one name:Borchard.

This kid might be a great hitter but if he's not a serviceable defensive catcher then the value isn't that great.

Likely scenario,IMO, is that he hits well in AA in 2009, 2010 they see that he won't make it as a catcher and try him at 1B. He may be adequate there or even become a DH early in his career.

I predict that his bat holds up and he's the Sox DH in 2011.

That comp doesn't wash. Borchard had big power but real K problems. He had two big challenges: Learning to control the strike zone and making his swing less mechanical. He was not able to do either.

Flowers dominates the zone. Look at his walk numbers. He also has a solid swing. The questions for him are how does he handle the jump from A ball and will he find a defensive position. He's more like a Garko or Hafner than a Borchard.
