As bad as the Sox have looked tonight, the Twins looked worse.

Very solid five-pitch at-bat for Span. He looked at all five pitches and K'd.

It would be nice, the Sox not playing until tonight, if I had the Twins came on Fox this afternoon. But just as ESPN televised the Cubs game last night, Fox has the Cubs game on this afternoon in Northern California. Even if the Sox game is meaningful tomorrorw and TBS should televise it in Northern Calirornia, which they wouldn't because the Cubs playing in a game that could decide the National League wild card would take be more important appearently than a divisional race, apparently, I'll be driving to San Francisco tomorrow. I'll have to listen to the A's or Giants game to get any scores I care about.
I've been to more Sox games in person than I've seen baseball games on television this year. But it's just as well, considering how national announcers are so irritating when they try to explain baseball to people who know little about baseball, which is their mode. I'm to the point where the only announcer I found I can listen to is Jon Miller, who also does Giants radio. |

Kubel doubles down the LF line.
Young grounds out to the first baseman. Kubel to third. Harris doubles to deep left center. Kubel scores. Punto lines a single to left, Harris to third (would have been dead at home). Gomez ... hits into a 6-4-3 DP... End of 2; 1-0 Twins |

First and third with one out and Gomez hitting and they don't score but the run that had already crossed the plate. Sox fans would be screaming.

Gordon grounds out to second.
Buck with a single to center. Maier strikes out swinging... Aviles (wow, Aviles has this goofy batting stance. Crazy, slow winding overhead swinging bat) flies out to mid right field... (Well, the Wife just got home, so I'll probably have to get back to "work") Middle of 3; 1-0 twins |

On a double play it doesn't matter, it's considered one continuous play, just like a ground ball w/ two out. Unless it wasn't a standard 6-4-3 or 5-4-3 double play, then there would be an issue.

Span drills one off the first basemen's glove (probably should have caught that one). Ends up on first base.
Span steals second... easily. Casilla bunts ... pitcher double pumps the throw... Casilla reaches. First and third nobody out. |
