It's too bad that when the Sox drafted their "safe" pitching prospects with supposed polish, they don't have enough talent to even succeed in the minors. I'm not saying Broadway won't ever end up on the major league roster for a career, but his upside seems to be a 4th/5th starter.

Crede did not play?
What's up with that? |

Crede felt twinges in his back during pre-game warm-ups. He's expected to play today.

That's not good. His back is really giving him more and more problems as the season progresses. He was great in April when his back was 100%, but he has generally been on a downward slope since, save for a few weeks here and there where he got hot. The Sox desperately need him healthy down the stretch.

BTW, how did you find out the reason he missed the game? I went to the Charlotte website last night to see if they had a reason why Crede was not in the lineup, but they did not have anything on it.

Thanks. I would like to see Charlotte's game today. The main club will have 22.2% of the Charlotte starters. Contreras is scheduled to pitch today in his rehab start.

Contreras has walked the bases loaded with nobody out.

I'd deal McCulloch for Pablo Ozuna at this point. God, if you look at some of the players that were taken in the '06 draft, McCulloch is one of the worst taken in the top 5 rounds period. Jesus Christ does he suck! And it's not like he's bust who had the potential to be a great pitcher, he's a bust that had the potential to be a back end starter. What a waste of a pick. If I were Kenny I'd deal McCulloch straight up for a $25 gift card to Fridays.

Contreras settled in nicely after that first. He allowed no runs and only two more hits in the next four innings.
Hopefully he's ready to go! |

Excellent! We need him to come back healthy and effective. Frankly, they could have just let him pitch against the Royals today. He probably could have held them to single digits, at least.
