And then get ready to let the kids go when the time comes for them to get paid, and start rebuilding again.

It would be unprecedented, but the big financial blow would come during years when guys like Moncada, Kopech, Eloy, etc are very cheap. Then when it's time to pony up the big bucks for them, Bryce/Manny is "only" denting the payroll by 25-30M.

It would be unprecedented, fiscally insane and it would demonstrate that individuals just do not learn from history.

Are you really worried/predicting about the Sox financial standing 7 years from now? This is one contract, 7 years from now just simply due to inflation, $40 mil will organically be added by default to the Sox projected payroll.

And who knows who'll actually be owning the team in seven years.

So it's possible that Almora might get to play with his friend Machado and Bryant might get to play with his friend Harper too?

I think you'll see Harper leave and the Nats finding a way to survive his loss (see the trajectories of Robles and Soto).

The White Sox would be nut to throw big money after any one of these two. But as we all know, stranger things have happened.

Yup. Then the (billionaire) ownership will cry poor, blame fans for not wanting to spend time/money on a garbage product, and the cycle will continue.

You forgot to mention changing social preferences, multi-millionaire players and skyrocketing prices.
