Exactly...

Sox designated Santana for assignment this morning and reinstated Eloy.

He's likely to decline, so this is probably the end of the Ervin Santana era.

If you're looking for your posts criticizing the Santana signing they're in the Rick Hahn thread in WTS.

We now have 19(!) games without a day off, followed by another 18(!) games without a day off.

I wish they would have called up a reliever to replace Santana, then optioned an outfielder to call up a spot starter for the next Giolito start.

Does anything preclude them from doing that during the 19-game stretch? Sincere question.

4.3M for 13 innings worked, quite the payday.

At least it defeats the "Sox are cheap" narrative.

Yep, nice work if you can get it. At least the Sox had the good sense to cut his ass and not keep running him out there because of his salary. That's a positive development in their favor.

Not "cheap" by any means just wasteful with the money they spend in many cases.

And you can add another name to the long list of former Sox-killers who come to this team and outright suck.

(disclaimer: I know he's not a "Sox-killer" on the level of some others, but it sure felt like our hitters were over-matched against him a lot of the time - in his second-ever ML start, he threw a complete game shutout against us!)
