Default 12 Years Ago Today

Oct. 26, 2005 - seems like yesterday and, yet seems like so long ago:

Yes, it was a lifetime ago, for me at least. My life is completely different than it was that night.

Yes, mine too. In some ways wonderful and some awful. Guess that's life.

Ironic I ran into Herm Schneider today to jog my memory. Hard to believe it's been that long. I'm ready for another one. Let's roll in 2020

My life was so incredibly different then in all ways, as I'm sure many others can relate.

My best birthday ever. Yeterday wasn't bad, but in 2005 the Sox won not one but two World Series games on October 26. With the WS being pushed back it's not likely to happen that way ever again -- even when the Sox win it all again -- but I can live with that.

Had my annual Oct. 26 viewing of the World Series film yesterday. Glad we have our own version of Christmas (at least until the next title).

For the last month I've been watching the 2005 playoffs and have enjoyed it immensely.

It was like the baseball gods wanted to drive a knife into the Bartman wound to make the Cubs suffer even more.

Default World Series

Let's hope we get another one by 2020. 2005 will always be the one. A real gritty team that was overlooked. Perfect team for the South Side.

There are only 2 things that are the same in my life since then:
  1. I still am teaching high school math in the city of Chicago.
  2. I still live in the same apartment thanks to cheap rent (I moved here just 1 mile from Comiskey Park the winter before the 2005 World Series...Talk about great timing!).

That was a fun time...The only things that have topped that night were the Blackhawks 3 titles (because the Blackhawks are by far my favorite team in sports).
