Is Trey Michalczewski finally figuring it out? Just turned 23, off to a good start at Birmingham. Switch hitting 3B- very balanced splits.

Just like last season, a very early in season promotion for Dunning.

He's jumped ahead of Alec Hansen now as next man to the Majors after Kopech.

Is there anything new about Hansen? I feel like this is a Rodon- esque forearm tightness situation. Surely, it can't take this long to heal forearm tightness.

Rutherford with a 2/2 night with an RBI so far. Look at the stats from the Carolina league up top. We are either leading or top 5 in every major category. Offensively, this is an incredible minor league club.

I agree. I think there's something more going on than meets the eye.

I sure hope so. Finding a spot for him would be a great problem to have. He must cut down on strikeouts.

Seby Zavala.

Also, seeing some weakness with Adolfo. He has crept his k rate to 30 percent, and is beginning to struggle a bit. I am not.expecting him to light it up the way he has, but I really wish his hit took was similar to Rutherford. Then again, he would be rated higher than most of that was the case.

He did just go back to back games with HR before yesterday. His strikeouts will be fine if he continues to hit for power and a .321 average. Now, the average will come down over time, but he has shown tremendous progress.

Forearm tightness or discomfort is one of the most common precursors to Tommy John/UCL problems. It wouldn't surprise me if they're just taking extreme caution, given that TJ would be basically two lost years of development for one of the higher ceiling pitching prospects in baseball.

Collins 1 for 2 with 2 walks and a triple. Jimenez and Zavala each 1 for 4 for the Barons tonight.

If it is a precursor to TJ surgery, I'm curious what the "cure" is then? Just rest?

Then what happens when eventually the kid starts throwing again?

I guess I'm curious what the "success rate" is for this and how often players who have this eventually have to have the surgery amyway.

Seems to me they should go in, exam him and if it looks like things aren't right, have the surgery and start the rehab process as opposed to waiting months to have to have it done anyway. Time wasted.

Birmingham: Collins 1 for 3 and a walk and Jimenez 1 for 4 (HR) tonight. Polo 2 for 4 with a triple.

W-S: Basabe, Adolfo, Rutherford, and Sheets each with 1 hit. Basabe's was a HR. Sheets also walked.

Collins 2 for 5 and Jimenez 1 for 5 (HR) today.

Nice to see Collins bouncing back the last few games after a horrendous start. Eloy is only hitting .214, but no doubt is shaking off some rust after missing the first few weeks of the season. He has 4 HR in 11 games this season.
