We may have read the same article, because I just saw that too. He has cooled off recently, which may drop him a tad if teams want to discount 1B. I think he's a great fit for their current strategy.

Jonathan Mayo's alternative mock draft and BA's 3rd mock draft both have Faedo going to the Sox at 11. I'd like Haseley but he's definitely getting some helium in the latest mocks. Adding Haseley and Robert over the course of a couple of weeks really shores up he OF depth.

Faedo could end up being a steal though if his struggles this year are only health related.

If college baseball interests you, then you have to turn on the ACC tournament this week. A ton of guys that might be drafted by the Sox in 2017 or 2018 will be playing.

All are on the ACC Network except for the championship game which is on ESPN 2. You can use the watch ESPN app for all games I think.

If anyone has watch ESPN, Mississippi State is playing Georgia live (2nd inning as of 10 AM CST). Brent Rooker (1B/OF, MSU) is on serious helium watch on most draft sites. Just crushed another home run.

interesting that there was no mention of Pavin Smith, maybe we get lucky and he slides.

Well there is the mantra, "Don't draft college first basemen early" that might lead to that.

Agreed.

And with Smith, there are some questions on his power. I have seen his raw power graded between 50 and 60. 60 is fine, but 50 is hard to justify a top 10 pick at 1b.

Haseley as a pick would signal a different direction, but unfortunately we are probably too low to land him as scouts are starting to put the Benintendi label on him.

If given my choice Haseley would be my pick of the three followed by Adell. I have zero interest in Kendall, even though he has been labeled a first round pick for two seasons.
Kendall is an interesting prospect. He seems to have the best tools of any college hitter in the draft but there's serious questions about his hit tool. I guess the question ones down to whether or not he's athletic enough to make the necessary mechanical corrections to hit higher level pitching.

This scouting report is interesting and includes a swing breakdown that is very critical of his upper half. http://https://www.google.com/amp/www.minorleagueball.com/platform/amp/2017/3/6/14814248/jeren-kendall-of-vanderbilt-2017-mlb-draft-report
