Typically, no. He's getting pitched around in every series and from what I've seen/heard he's expanding his strike zone.

I think whats actually encouraging is that hes expanding the zone but making contact. He still isn't exactly a strikeout machine

Another sub-par weekend for Beer, not much offense to be had for Clemson against BC. He did hit 2 home runs and drew some walks. Current slash:

.241/.465/.557 28 BB, 12 K in 79 at bats.

That OBP and slugging % is amazing. Still has to be considered the consensus #1 overall pick in 2018 (barring injury).

Risk

In terms of college baseball they are actually not all that amazing, neither ranks in the top 100. He is however second in the nation in walks and top 25 in home runs.

A pretty good week for Seth as Clemson rolled two lesser opponents during the week and then took 2 out of 3 from Georgia Tech.

Slashing at .265/.475/.592 with 8 home runs.
BB:K stands at 35:16 in 98 official at bats.

Maybe if the White Sox draft Beer they might be able to get a Beer sponsor for their games on TV.

Another mediocre weekend for Beer, hit another home run but was mostly kept in check as Clemson swept Virginia Tech.

Season slash - .265/.469/.584
BB:K - 37:18

For any of you interested in the current crop of college players, Fangraphs is keeping an ongoing tracker of the top statistical players in the power conferences:

I know zero about Pavin Smith, but he's struck out just 3 times in 118 AB, with 14 walks and 10 HRs. Is he projected to be a high pick? I sure would like to see people like that, guys who put the ball in play, on the White Sox.

There's some interesting stats in those tables.

Baseball America has him at #11 on their top 100 list. Picking 11, Sox may be in a decent position to nab him if they're interested.

Sickels did a write up on Smith, enjoy:

2017 MLB Draft profile: Pavin Smith, 1B, University of Virginia

Smith draws comparisons to players like John Olerud and Eric Hosmer and he won’t need long in the minors. He could go in the Top 10 and won’t get past the middle of the first round.

It will be interesting to watch how the season plays out, and the moves Hahn makes, to see where the Sox will be drafting.

Didn't have a great series against Wake Forest, will look to turn it around in a big series against UNC this weekend.

.285/.461/.616, 151 AB, 12 HR, 39 RBI, 43 BB, 22 K, 8 HBP
