I may be wrong here, but even with 1 year of arbitration left, the White Sox still need to tender a contract to Avisail by a certain date otherwise he becomes a free agent.

He wonít get a raise from this year and I donít see them walking away from him for that level of commitment for a single year.

Even better news, Hansen to make next start in Birmingham over the weekend, per Scot Gregor.

I don't get it. Slow start in brutal April weather of 18 games after an All Star season and people are ready to write Avi off.

Because based on his entire career, last season appears to be a real fluke.

I'm ready to "write him off" because he hasn't been able to stay healthy (which certainly isn't his fault but still...), admitted he has been out of shape in the past (which is his fault and may be part of the reason for all the injuries) and is not that good (for example he's pretty bad in the field)

Early in his career sure he was injured a lot. One of those bad injuries was on that nasty diving catch in Colorado in 2014 in early April. The 3 seasons that followed (2015, 2016, and 2017) Avi played in 83% of the teams games.

Maybe just getting in better shape and more experience in his age 25/26 season was the reason behind his success last season. I'm not going to use a shoulder injury on a diving play 4 years ago to say a guy can't stay healthy. Especially when he had 3 healthy seasons following that injury.

Because he's probably no better than the weak side of a RF platoon with Daniel Palka, and we can't afford a RF platoon given the need for a deep bullpen.

2188 career plate appearances and only 4.0 career WAR, which is amazing since he was +4.6 last year.

Should've dealt him in the offseason.

It makes Trayce Thompson go away, which is good, but Avi Garcia and Daniel Palka in the same outfield frightens me.

Did he come into camp this year in as good condition as he did last year?

I am with Lip on this one.
