J.B. Shuck is in the line-up tonight for the Marlins.

Oakland just designated Trace Thompson for assignment. Would the Sox take a chance simply because the guy can at least catch the ball and probably hits better than Engle?

He got cut by the Dodgers a few weeks ago. Why would the Sox want him?

Because he's better hitting than Engle (which isn't saying much) and can catch the ball in the outfield. Which apparently is quite a challenge for Delmonico and L. Garcia.

Look I know it's just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Who cares? You think Tracye Thompson is going to make one whit of difference in how this season plays out? I mean honestly. Might as well let Engel play in case he turns it around or until one of the other guys can come up and take his slot. Adding another crappy AAAA player to the mix won't change a thing.

He's also had back injury issues in his career and has been well under the Mendoza line for the last two seasons.

Bringing him back accomplishes nothing at all.

I agree but I also think keeping the status quo as bad, lifeless and desultory as this team looks right now also isn't accomplishing anything either.

You know they were going to be bad this year, I knew they were going to be bad this year, most fans knew it...but I don't think anybody expected them to be as non-competitive as they've shown.

Seriously, they couldn't even beat a good Triple-A team right now.

They just can't let things go on this way even if the moves are as I said just rearranging the chairs on the Titanic.

At least I was hoping the second half of last year and they way they played in the spring would carry through and they'd show some progress.

As others have stated at this site they have regressed in almost every single area.

NOBODY expected this.

It's beyond bad.

Sub out for defense when Davidson or Delmonico look like they have taken their last at-bat of the game.

Alen Hanson hit a two-run pinch HR for the Giants last night. In 52 ABs this season, Hanson has 5 HRs and 6 doubles -- hitting .346. Shades of Craig Wilson!

I was kind of surprised that the Sox let Hanson go; I thought he was decent, but they had a lot of Hansons. I hope he does well.

San Francisco is also letting Hanson play where he is supposed to play, in the middle infield.
