Default Sox Had A. Garcia Deal In Place...

Didn't know for sure where to put this. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic this was after Washington ownership shut down a deal sending Bryce Harper to the Astros:

"After learning they could not land Harper, the Astros put together another trade that would have sent right-hander Francis Martes to the Chicago White Sox for outfielder Avisaíl García, sources said. That deal failed to come to fruition when the Astros expressed concern over the condition of García’s right knee."

Too bad for the Sox.

Out 'til '20 with TJ. Fits right in with Our Young Core.

Didn't know that. You're right, it would have fit in perfectly with the minor league M*A*S*H* unit.

Was this kid a better prospect?

I was hoping the Astros wanted Abreu

Turned out according to the story the Sox knew about the pitchers injury but were willing to make the deal anyway.

If nothing else this sort of sets a baseline for what the Sox could get for A. Garcia moving forward.

He was a consensus top-30 prospect going into 2017. I would have loved that trade.

Or the Rockies. Their 1B production was awful.

Yeah, this offseason and next season’s trade deadline represent the “last call” for genuine seller’s trades.

It really comes down to 2 simple questions:

Are we going to contend for a postseason spot next year?

Will the players that other teams want to acquire from us definitely help us win in the future?

If the answer to both questions is “no,” then make the trade.
