Probably the worst pitcher getting regular starts since Danny Wright. As bad as Covey was he still isn't in Jaime Navarro territory since he didn't throw his teammates under the bus after bad starts.

The Cubs and Twins have holes in their rotations. Good landing spots for us, I mean him.

So I never have to watch him pitch for the sox again? This is a great offseason

I think he was far worse than Wright. I am so glad hes finally gone.

I'll be shocked if anyone besides an independent league team picks him up.

There was one worse pitcher in baseball statistically in 2019 who also pitched more than 50 innings.

Can you name him?

Covey moving on is a positive sign that the rebuild is picking up steam and heading in the right direction. Best of luck to him and maybe he'll find his way onto another team and turn it around.

I looked it up but won't ruin it for everyone else.

There were many Navarro games I had to sit through as a kid. At least James Baldwin or Mike Sirotka seemed to give us a chance but Navarro always felt like it was going to be just a bad day

Going by which stats? Going by bWAR he was 9th worst at -1.2. Worst was Edwin Jackson with... -2.4

EJax for the win, or loss as it were.

And Jackson has pitched for 9 teams since the White Sox packaged him with Mark Teahen (who, like Covey, was a first-round pick by a team other than the White Sox) for two pitchers who are long out of baseball. Covey may be able to hook on to a team desperate for pitching because pitching is so thin and he looks like he can pitch until you watch him consistently in major league games.

14 teams and $66+ million career earnings. Maybe that's Covey's future?
