Who is that? I don't see any "elite" hitters.

What's wrong with Cooper disagreeing with Renteria if Coop's right and the mgr. is wrong?

Like I said, this organization stinks from top to bottom.

So many terrible decisions compounded by more terrible decisions.

The latest being shoving Chance The Rapper aside right before he really blew up.

At the end of the day it's the fans that suffer though.
If it's such a terrible organization, how did they ever win the World Series?

voodoo,

It's the way they lose that matters. My hope is that his organization does a better job of scouting, developing, and managing their players.

Right now they're losing and cannot find a way to execute the fundamentals. I think that is a problem. I am sure when it starts to get consistently warmed and the attendance does not increase there will be pressure to bring up the kids. I hope that every consideration is made to bring them up when those in the organization with real baseball smarts feel they're ready to play fundamental baseball as opposed to maximize gate attendance based on appearance.

Rodon, Giolito and Fulmer: there are real reasons to be concerned about this high end (in potential) talent panning out.

Happ had a better resume as well.

CWS be damned.

That argument doesn't carry much water anymore, thirteen years later.

Abreu has been at least 20% above league average in wRC+ and at least 24% above league average in OPS+ every year of his career. Moreover, that dip in performance in 2016 looks more like an outlier than a trend; he has been over 30% above league average in both categories in every other year besides 2016. The fact that there are lots of 1B/DH hitters who also put up elite numbers diminishes the relative value of that production, but that is a different argument.

I'm hoping today's game gets washed out and rescheduled as part of a doubleheader tomorrow. Sox then bring up Eloy or Kopech as the 26th man to give us all (at least for a day) a little hope. It's gonna get better. A LOT better.

If we're being honest, those couple years involved a lot of luck.

Best time of my life as a fan though.

I just hope we can have sustained success. Or at least back to back playoff appearances.

That shouldn't be too difficult.

Boy, everybody needs to calm down.

I didn't think this year was going to be this bad, but I KNEW it was going to be bad. This is how rebuilding works. Some of these guys will figure it out, some will not and will turn out to be hot garbage. Not every guy is going to be like Frank Thomas and just be an absolute monster from day one.

If you want to quit on the team and come back when they start winning, go for it. But in my opinion, that puts you in the bandwagon jumper, fair weather Cub fan bucket. Simple as that.

Personally, this is an interesting learning experience to watch and see how it plays out. Especially with the unique structure that Hahn has used. Am I a bit masochistic? I must be. But the organization is accumulating WAY too much talent to not have this work out, IMO. We will also have at least two more years of mega high draft selections and likely the lowest payroll in baseball next year in one of the greatest crop of FAs in recent memory.

If you can't take the major league pain, get a MILB subscription and watch the farm teams.

For everyone touting the Astros draft success, you do know they missed on back to back #1 picks?

If we're being honest, all winning teams have an amount of luck factor into their success.

Right. Because he has to pitch a shutout every time out or he's going to be a bust, right? Come on!
