It's also way too early to tell if Delmonico is current Delmonico.

I wouldn't be surprised if we sign Gonzales next year, and flip him again at the deadline.

It's just crazy how anyone and everyone of value who could be moved was. If even a third of these young acquisitions blossom into something, Hahn needs to become the prototype of the modern GM. What a guy.

I dont see the difficulty in getting rid of the players the Sox did. None of them had albatross contracts or stunk really bad. It comes down to what the players do, that the Sox got in return before Ill give the Sox management team credit.

Agree 100 percent.

I agree. While I hope the euphoria is warranted it is way too early to tell if Hahn is a genius or not.

Yes and you can add Davidson to the list.

I don't know. I think this is exactly who Davidson is: a sub-.300 OBP who will slug around the .500 mark, hit 30+ home runs, strike out a ton, and play a capable 3B.

I agree with that. In that sense, he's not much of a commodity in today's game.

He is a 0.1 WAR player, the very definition of replacement level. He is just not very good, and has gotten worse as the year has progressed (I posted the numbers about a month ago).

17 walks and 136 strikeouts. If his last name was Dunn, it would be Mudd.

I think those who say he's progressed or whatever look at the homers, which are actually not impressive in this year of the HR, and forget the rest.

He'd be fine occupying an 8th or 9th spot in a lineup like Joey Gallo, though Gallo is a far better player.

By the way, Tim Anderson is a negative WAR player. He brings OK power, OK speed, and sorta OK defense. He is an absolute liability in the rest of the game.

Yup.

My only question with him is if the league will adjust to him next year and he'll strike out more and hit fewer HR's or if he'll learn a thing or two and hit the 30+ you predict (I'd place him in the 25-30 range right now myself).

His WAR has taken a serious hit because of all those games where he was DHing. Look at Todd Frazier's substantial WAR advantage with a worse offensive profile.

Like you say, he's a bottom-third hitter who can single-handedly impact a few games per year with his power, but his bat only profiles as a legitimate major league bat if he is playing an adequate 3B to go along with it.

My question with him is: where are all those walks that he had drawn every year in the minors?

Matt Davidson will not be the starting 3B when this team again is competitive.

Anderson is having a sophomore slump, but even amid that he had a solid May and a solid August, and a lousy April, June, and July. He may yet be the starting SS when the Sox again are competitive, but it will probably be as the #9 hitter, which is fine.
