Sox score 14 runs in the 9th inning last night and beat the Dodgers, screw the rebuild.

Here's my take on the roster when they break camp-I think some choices will be driven by players out of options who they could lose if they don't make the team, etc., Saladino may be starting 2B with Sanchez as back up. I think Smith has a real chance or making the team over Soto, Jacob May has had a nice spring so far.

Pitching-Starters

1. Quintana
2. Rodon
3. Gonzalez
4. Holland
5. Shields

Pitching-Bullpen

6. Closer-Robertson
7. Jones
8. Jennings (LH)
9. Petricka
10. Putnam
11. Soto (LH)
12. Covey/Ynoa/Kahnle

Infield/DH

13. Abreu- 1B
14. Sanchez- 2B
15. Anderson- SS
16. Frazier-3B
17. Saladino- Utility
18. Davidson (DH/1B)

Outfield/DH

19. A Garcia- RF
20. Bourjos- CF (Tilson- DL)
21. M. Cabrera- LF
22. L Garcia- OF/IF
23. J. May

Catcher

24. Soto/Smith
25. Narvaez

Damn the torpedo's! Full steam ahead!

Yeah, that was mostly Dodger ineptitude but it was fun to watch. I don't think I've ever seen a (major league) team bat around twice and start on a third time in an inning before. I've seen that sort of thing in beer league softball but not the major leagues.

Mostly agree with that except I think maybe Luebke as the second lefty reliver instead of Soto. I'd flip-flop Saladino and Sanchez as you suggest is a possibility. I think Saladino has more than earned the starting job. And like you, I would keep Smith as the second catcher and drop Soto. A Soto-less Sox team. Nothing against Soto's. In my mind the only real open spot is that last one in the bullpen. I don't think Covey is up to the job but as Rule 5 guy they will keep him in consideration as long as possible. I give the edge to Kahnle based on last year but I don't see much difference between him Ynoa, Minaya, and a host of other guys floating between AAA and the majors.

As I mentioned on the other thread, this Tilson setback is a big blow because it appears from what I'm reading is that it was almost his job to lose coming into the spring. Interesting because I really never saw him as a big picture piece.

Danny Hayes is working his way onto this team. I know we all want to see Davidson get a shot here at DH, but man, having a big guy on the bench like Hayes would be fun!

How are all the big-name prospects that we got for Sale and Eaton doing? They're not making a lot of your projected rosters.

Giolito and the Cuban guy who came in exchange for Sale seem like busts so far.

Oh, you're right. I got my completely inconsequential roster fodder Sox players mixed up!

They are not now nor were they projected to, when acquired, make the roster.

Give me a break.

But nice stretching to be as negative as possible. You rarely disappoint.

I enjoyed that inning a lot. And the 8-run inning in the afternoon game. Of course it won't translate to regular season success, but I've already gotten more enjoyment out of the Sox than I did all last season.

This is sarcasm, right?

This problem can be solved by carrying 13 pitchers. With that back-end of the rotation, we're going to need an 8th reliever anyway. Leury Garcia goes bye-bye.
