Sully at the Trib takes them to task today......just kidding! Here's the Cub lover's fluff piece about the wonderful serendipity of the Cubs and Darvish coming together to get a deal done:

There's nothing to take them to task on because that's a good deal for Yu Darvish, and many people in the industry agree.

For an oft-injured pitcher on the wrong side of 30 who is hasnít pitched 200 innings since 2013 (the only season he has done so)?

Anibal Sanchez signs with the Twins. One year, 2.5 million.

Not bad for a pitcher who is definitely not close to what he used to be. Iím sure heís thanking his lucky stars he can still find a team desperate for pitching.

Hosmer signs with the Padres. Reportedly 8 years, with an opt out after 5. No word on money.

$20 million per year for the first five years, $13 million per year for the remaining three years, $5 million signing bonus. $144 million total.

A nice pickup for the Twins.

I'm shocked it took 8 years to get him. I thought they could get away with 5 at $20 million per.

Besides needing a new stadium, I've come to the conclusion that the Rays need new owners. Baseball in Tampa and Miami this year is going to hurt my eyes.
Maybe the Rays will trade Kevin Keirmaier to the White Sox.

EDIT: Corey Dickerson was DFA by the Rays today, Rays are in self destruct mode.

They kinda did. He has an opt-out after year 5. If he performs I would assume he would opt out after the 5th year

The Rays designated Corey Dickerson for assignment.

Wow, Kiermaier in CF would be a nice continuation of great gloves at that position. (if only Engel can hit .260...)

I have to believe, for the right price, Chris Archer is available. Milwaukee maybe?

.260? Hell, I'd stick him out there every day if he can hit as low as .240 or .230. That glove alone makes me able to stomach that kind of offensive production at the position.
