Default What are your expectations for the 2018 Chicago White Sox?

For me I hope to see improvement, both record wise and in the development of the younger players. It will be interesting to see if the front office pulls the trigger on any trades or free agents.

I'm saying 73 wins. I think the starting rotation is one loose thread away from completely unraveling. If they get Rodon back and call up Kopech for the second half, they could pull a September surge to build for 2019.

Worst case for me is 72 wins.

Best case (if many guys surprise) would be 78-80 Wins.

My top 5 guys I'm most interested in seeing take a big step forward (in order):

1) Tim Anderson ( I really want this kid to be good)
2) Carlos Rodon coming back from his surgery strong
3) Nicky Delmonico - Is he for real or just another guy
4) Avisail Garcia - Can he develop that 30 HR pop to perhaps make Hahn's wheels spin a bit on considering a long term deal.
5) Jake Burger down in the farm. Can he and Tim help alleviate the White Sox fan angst and silliness about dropping $250 million on Machado?

I hope they tease me and crack 90 wins. A couple of 7-10 game winning streaks on this site to enjoy would be a nice change as well.

To me, watching games last year was more fun than most years of late, even when the losses stacked up. I hope for more of the same this year. I have no specific needed wins target. Win 'em, lose 'em, I don't care too much. Just let me see more development. That may come in the minors. That's ok with me, for now. The guys played fun, watchable baseball last year. Keep it coming!

hopefully they can get a good draft pick again

I don't want to see much of Rodon this year - let him take as much time to heal as he needs or wants. Pointless to waste him on the 2018 season.

I disagree here. His cheap seasons are all but done here. Need to know what this guy is.

I disagree with you both. When the doctors and trainers say he's ready to pitch, let him pitch. Don't slow roll him or fast track him.

As to the Sox I'm hoping they manage to get some good returns on some of they players they signed to flip. I'm also hoping there's enough development to push them toward 80 wins on the season. Hopefully Shields' second half resurgence this past season carries over and we can flip him at the deadline for some low level prospect or two.

70 wins, player development, and deadline trades for the future. That’s all I need.

Better fundamentals, more wins, leadership and team chemistry.

Yes. Everything else is gravy.

.500 would be nice, still too many question marks.

Expectations- 72 wins, some players show progress while others regress, a few minor leaguers force their hand and get called up, and the team is still more enjoyable to watch than the mediocre play we've seen in the last 10 years. And I continue to stomach a bunch of losses because regardless of the situation and the rebuild, I hate losing and I want to win.
