what can you say about Flowers. At least he caught wood in one of his at bats.
DeAza is still the Sox worst outfielder overall. I can only hope we can find a taker.

Nice to see the team showing some life again. I thought the wheels were about to completely come off a couple weeks back. They still may in the second half but it's still nice to see them not throwing the towel in

Belisario gets people out when he pitches in innings other than the ninth, as he demonstrated tonight.

It was nice to see the Sox break it open in the ninth.

I doubt we're going to find many suitors for an outfielder with an OBP under .300 but I would be pretty surprised if he's not non-tendered this off-season. Guy's already making $4 million and change, can't see the Sox taking on another arbitration pay raise...

Also, I believe he's been much improved with the bat of late. We might as well get some use out of him while that is happening.

Agree, 100%. The bullpen has been the main cause of a number of excruciating loses this year.

Since RV & Co haven't had the option to have the l0ogy Scott Downs throw around the plate to someone, the Sox are 8-4 and the bullpen has seemed to have been better. I haven't looked at it to verify, but it seems that way to me. It also seems like they're letting our pen guys face more hitters if they look good on a particular day/night.

I still don't get their handling of Webb. If you don't trust the guy to pitch in pressure situations, send him down to work on his command. Unless he's having regular side sessions with Cooper or Thigpen, having your presumed closer of the future serve as a seldom used mop-up man is kind of odd. And Rienzo? With the All-Star break around the corner and all hands available to pitch out of the bullpen if necessary, they might as well replace him on the active roster with a bat for the Cleveland series.

RV and Coop have been forced by circumstances to go old-school with relief pitching; not having defined roles might actually work out with this group.

What "bat" would that be?

De Aza has been hitting for over a month now, but it's too late to get anything for him. He really killed his trade value in the first 7-8 weeks of the year. A month of hitting in the .330s barely brought him above the Mendoza line.

I haven't followed the Red Sox closely this year, but what happened to them to take them from World Series champs to being such a lousy team this year?

Two years ago, they lost over 90 games, but I believe they had injuries to key players that year. So, it wasn't a surprise to me to see them rebound in 2013.

Nice win. Johnny Danks battled on a nite he did not have great command.

Wish he could have gutted out one more out to get his 14th quality start in 18 starts this season....but I agreed with Robin taking him out to preserve the win with Pedroia coming up.

Danks has had 8 good outings in his last 9 starts.

He is rumored to be an interest of the Yankees.....might be worth looking at depending on the offer...a catcher would be nice and the Yanks have a surplus.

Trading Danks would be a clear white flag move.
Same with Tank.

Very happy for PK ...getting that double down the line in a pinch-hit role at Fenway had to be cool for him. He has been swinging the bat well for over a month.
If Dunn gets moved, PK will slide in very nicely for a good finish to his Sox career.

Danks has 36 million left on his deal right now, so he might not fetch much.
