Can you imagine the outrage in a WSI game thread if Derek Holland had been brought in to face Bryce Harper in that situation?

On twitter check out @cut4. They track player movement and on Harper's homerun you see the dot representing Heyward in right heading back to the dugout before the ball lands

I happened to turn the game on two batters before Harper. That ball was launched!! And I loved his sprint around the bases. So exciting. If Derek Holland isn't the answer, perhaps Theo and Jed should reach out to Mat Latos?

I hate being in a position to defend Joe Maddon, but Holland actually has had pretty good splits against lefties this year. The weird thing is that Harper's actually hitting lefties a bit better than he's hitting righties.

I was watching the game on the ESPN tracker app and Harper's hot zone is is low and in and it seemed like EVERYTHING was low and in. I don't know if the catcher was setting up there or what, but good God, Harper crushed that baseball.

Kaplan's video on Twitter last night was priceless. He was so upset on the 9th inning lose that he just went on a rant.

It would be so much sweeter if he had purchased a Harper Cubs jersey last offseason.

I watched Holland pitching for the Giants this year, and I think the splits inflate his value against left-handed hitters. The Giants seemed to agree with me (or vice versa) because they designated him for assignment before selling him to the Cubs.

It may have been the case of the Cubs simply having no one in the bullpen who could have won the game last night after the Bote error.

Cubs have recalled Addison Russell. Let's see how it goes this time.

The bullpen blows another lead in the 9th and they lose to the Pirates

Me thinks the Cubs need to get out of PA ASAP.

Both nights the Cubs got doinked a good bit - a bunch of seeing-eye singles.

But the only lefty you can bring out to face Bryce Harper is Derek Holland? yikes!

Morrow out for the year so he won’t pitch at all this season.

Cubs will end up paying him $21 million over the last 2 seasons for 30 innings of work.
