If it doesn't work for us, so what. It will eventually, like it did in KC. By 2012, people accepted that KC would never make the playoffs again. Now they have memories to last a lifetime.

I'd rather have the Marlins' last 25 years than NBA's Utah. Compare the 2 winning pcts and playoff appearances. Now compare number of rings. It's all about that ring.

Let the Sox tank, Houston were the Lastros for a while, now they're top of the heap.

Tanking is, for lack of a better term, good.
While I think there's a little more to it than the above, it's also a pretty good summary of how I feel. Flags fly forever.

Being upset by the bad baseball being played by a team filled with has-beens, never-weres, quad-A filler, and rookie/2nd-year players is unnecessary self-inflicted agony.
Agreed. The poor play that we've had to endure so far indeed sucks, but I don't see it as an indication of the rebuild being "off track". Most of the key talents acquired since the Sox "blew everything up" have performed well - that includes top talent in the minors.

Perhaps the most notable exception is Giolito, but he was actually somewhat of a reclamation project when the Sox acquired him anyway. He was already struggling and his stock had tumbled before the trade. That's what made it possible for the Nats to part with him plus Lopez and Dunning for Eaton.

Injuries have sucked too, but the ones to Hansen and Robert appear to be short term and they're making their way back to being activated in a few weeks. Rodon, too. The only devastating injury setback is Burger's.

Amen.

Just look at the Cubs and Indians. Everybody talked about how those teams were destined to rack up multiple World Series appearances. Fast-forward two years, and it looks like a very real possibility that 2016 will be the only one that either team appears in before their championship window deteriorates. Cleveland’s championship window very well may have closed the minute they blew a 3-games-to-1 World Series lead.

Look at the most recent era of Bulls basketball. After losing to the Heat in the Conference Finals, did anybody ever consider the possibility that missing out on that opportunity would be the highest the team would ever climb?
