Default Bryce Harper (update: bruises bone badly) as MLB insists Nats, Giants play in rain

Yesterday, Friday, the Giants/Nationals game in DC got rained out.

Today, Saturday, it was once again raining all night in DC. MLB made the call to start the game at 10:05 PM with a light rain still falling.

In the first inning, Bryce Harper appeared to tear his ACL on an infield that wasn't completely try. Was unable to walk off the field.

I'm sure MLB has protected itself from liability lawsuits from players, but...

I'm not a big Bryce Harper fan but I sure hope it's just a twist and not an ACL.

Washington has a 14 game lead on division, put this one on Johnnie Baker.

What is he supposed to do, sit his team out because it was raining? I don't see how Harper getting injured stepping on a wet base has anything to do with the manager.

Somewhere the Cubs are smiling since they'll be Washington's first round opponent.

They get all the breaks don't they?

Stuff happens, nothing you could do about it. The same could have happened on a dry base or getting out of the shower. No one to blame here.

I can't see anybody taking down the Dodgers at this point. They are incredible and almost 50 games over .500.

Mike Rizzo said Harper had an MRI and there was no tendon or ligament damage, just a severe bone bruise. He should be back before the end of the season.

Agreed. Just not ready to pencil the Cubs into the playoffs like Lip is.

With the Harper injury, I don't see any way it's not Los Angelse representing the NL.

Lots of people on the internet are comparing the 2017 Dodgers to the 2001 Mariners or the 1906 Cubs.

They seem to forget that neither of those teams won the World Series...

Unfortunately I don't think they've got the staying power. My color guy on the broadcasts is from the St. Louis area and is a huge Cardinals fan. He says they badly need a middle of the order RBI guy and those just aren't probably available on waivers in his opinion.

We'll see...would love it to happen though.
