Admission is the first step and a good one, now comes the hard part, doing something about it and changing things.

Moncada is on track to be a 3 or 4 WAR player to finish this season.

Why not add some free agents? Payroll will be extremely low. Hopefully, they will have a better idea at the end of this season as to the players they see in their future, and who will go. The Sox know contention is not going to be all just done with the farm system.

I actually enjoyed last night's game.

They don't have a track record of being able to sign top free agents.

All the games this season are meaningless in terms of viewing them as a win or loss. This season is about watching the players of 2020 + and ignoring the others. Gonzalez is not one of the 2020+ players. The entire outfield, too. No reason to gnash the teeth over whether we win or lose, just keep your eyes on the prize: the prospects up here and in the system.

100% yes. The gnashing of teeth over whether there were free agents better than Gonzalez available, whether Leury Garcia should be in LF or any field, and the general existence of James Shields, etc. are just a complete miss of the mark.

No, not on top...free agents they don't. But, they did sign Jermaine Dye at one point...top free agent? Adam Dunn..even though he was awful after they signed him, was considered a top free agent.

But anyway,it will depend on what they need at the time and considering they will have the $ to spend, they might. Who would you consider a top free agent?

I've been thinking more about this the last few weeks and I'm now of the mind that the Sox will not get the absolute best free agents next year. Think about it? Will the Sox spend 40 million a year on Harper? Will Kershaw really leave the Dodgers? You've heard the Machado to the Yanks talk I'm sure.

Blackmon has re-signed and off the top of my head I think these are by far the best out there.

That doesn't mean the Sox can't get some good players, especially bullpen help, but the top three guys or so I just don't think will be looking at the Sox unless they offer so much more money above and beyond everybody else.

That's why it's also at least a little important that if the Sox don't play well this year at least the kids who are part of the future and on the team do. That helps send a message to these guys next year whomever they may be that this is a promising team for the future. It may force them to at least consider the possibilities.

Maybe they are too busy posting stupid **** on Twitter all the time? I am actually serious, all these guys post way too much crap the Sox Retweet etc. So much so I may unfollow my team.
