Not laughing at Strop getting injured, but at the Cubs misfortune.
Joey the Clown and his “cute” baseball moves.

I remembered when he had multiple pitching changes in an inning and kept rotating said pitchers in the outfield so they wouldn’t be removed from the game. It’s all fun and games and the fandom worships him as a genius, until one of those pitchers gets hurt running for a fly ball.

Continue these unorthodox moves long enough and they will bite you.

Last night's Brewers win makes it impossible for the Cubs to clinch the division outright in our ballpark. They have seven games left after Sunday. They cannot get to an eight game lead on Sunday.

The Cubs have 11 games left and have 4 less losses than the Brewers. The Brewers have 10 games left. If the Cubs go 6-5. The Brewers would have to go 10-0 to pass the Cubs.

The Cubs will win the NL Central.

Sure looks that way. I'm hoping the Brewers and Dodgers meet in the WC game. Either would be a formidable match-up for the Cubs in the next round.

Brewers should be back to 2.5 down after tonight. Cubs losing 7-0 in the 8th to the Diamondbacks.

if both the Sox and Brewers can win their weekend series, they would be only 1.5 back with a week to go. Less if either sweep.

I'm truly grateful that there's no way I will see the Cubs clinch when I'm at the game on Sunday. That may have lead to my spontaneous combustion.

That loud thud everyone heard last night was Cole Hamels crashing back to Earth. Pounded by the D-Back's bench (they went with a "Sunday" lineup against the Cubs).

Addison Russell has been placed on administrative leave after his wife published a blog post about the alleged domestic abuse he inflicted upon her. It wouldn't surprise me if this being in the back of his mind has contributed to his so-so play this season.

Russell has flat out denied the allegations:

I thought Theo's message was on point. He was careful with his words and he had to be. What a mess..

They could just release him and not miss a step. He’s become a non-essential part of the squad.

They are just one Javy Baez jammed thumb or pulled hamstring away from Russell becoming essential in a heartbeat.

In the off season I'd package Russell, the Babe and maybe Happ for some pitching.
