Sox could find themselves a trade partner hard-pressed for some bullpen help. I’d say we have some guys available if they’re willing to part with a good prospect or a group of them. Soria and/or Jones could give them a good boost.

Soria is a good deal and gives them an option. They shouldn’t be worried about his salary and his option could be picked up.

Jones could be a good option once he’s off the DL and they’re looking more a few weeks or a month from now.

Maddon remains unfazed. Many Cubs fans are not convinced.

Speaking of the Cubs I read an interesting story at the Awful Announcing web site this morning.

Story said that with the AT&T / Time Warner merger approved. It is now expected that company is going to be a player for the Cubs broadcasting rights starting in the 2020 season.

Story said the AT&T company already owns three RSN's (Pittsburgh, Rocky Mountain and Southwest) doing Pirate, Rockies and Astros games.

They would form a new RSN just for the Cubs if they got their rights and would give them partial ownership.

If nothing else, the story said, having AT&T as a player could drive up the price to keep the Cubs on NBC Sports Chicago.

I still think the Cubs will win their division, but here's to hoping the Brewers punk them this year.

The Cubs cupboard is bare. Not a single prospect in the MLB Top 100. The Sox have 8.

Nothing to get excited about in the Cubs Top 30.

There are other more fruitful trading partners to approach.

Come on, Fielder. Last year Theo The Great One showed his desperate side when he overpaid for Q (remember, Q was not lighting it up for us last year and we were worried that his trade value was falling). Given this, let's say hello to our new Third Baseman, Kris Bryant...….

We aren’t getting a top 100 prospect for Soria or Jones anyway lol.

If we can get a top-100 prospect from someone and they eat the rest of Soria’s money, great. If not, a team’s top-5 prospects are still going to present trade value even if they’re filler for a future deal we make. They have some pitching prospects who I’m sure are better than some of the ones we have in the system. I’m not saying we will make a trade with them, but they are a team in need.

Morrissey has a column at the Sun-Times tonight wondering if Joe will be managing the Sox in 2020. At first glace you go "what?" but he does make some interesting points.

Unfortunately JR has never felt a manager or head coach was important enough to pay a huge salary to, so this isn't going to happen.

It is an interesting idea though.

(Screw) Joe Maddon

By winning percentage Maddon would be the most accomplished manager the White Sox have had since Al Lopez. I'd take him in a heartbeat.

I'll take Vizquel over Maddon.

Side note- watching a Maddon interview after the Cubbies were swept in Cincinnati- and he was talking about how the coaches would still be wearing some kind of shirt (mentioned the website) under some kind of overalls (mentioned the web site)- (I assume this was one of his wacky "dress up" things).

Did anyone else catch this? His team just got swept and he's focused on promoting clothing lines, etc.

I've seen hubris get to Ditka, and Guillen- could be getting to Maddon.

Like with any act, it's fun and cute when you are winning. When you stop winning, your act gets old quick. The same thing will happen with Madden when the Cubs winning slows down.

It's just a matter of how Madden is viewed when his time is up. Ditka's ass is still kissed to this very day, although, people like myself grew tired of his act over ten years ago. Not too many Sox fans are fond of Ozzie to this day.
