Nice to see Sox bats take advantage of a struggling Orioles pitching staff. Some pitching buffoonery by Pelfrey, but all's well that ends well.

Avi Garcia turned 26 today. Not necessarily a bust.

The Sox rotation has been really bad. Didn't matter tonight, though. Baltimore's pitching staff has been going really bad, as well. Might as well take advantage.

The Orioles were hot when the Sox played them in Baltimore. Right now, the Sox are catching them while they are cold.

The Orioles will wear out an opposing pitching staff, but have been having issues with their own pitching. Their back to .500 in a division where .500 doesn't figure to contend.

It's really not a good thing to make the last out of a game by being thrown out at second when your team is three runs down.

When I saw the Sox get six, I wanted to see them get more. When I saw they had eight, I still thought they needed more.

I take some comfort in the fact that Gregory Infante will go away once another arm comes off the DL.

Hope everyone who sat in that heat took appropriate measures. It's going to be hot like this the whole series. I didn't experience any real problems though, so I'm glad I survived that 3:29 ordeal. Thank God for the Rain Room on nights like this.

Pelfrey works really slow especially when runners get on base. Not an ideal pitcher to have on the mound when it is a scorcher. This is "Dog Days of August" type weather and it's only June.

Petricka bounced back and had a good outing. His pitches seemed to have lots of movement.

Maybe he was overthrowing in his first game back, making his stuff flatten out?

Petrickas problem is staying healthy, not his stuff.

Probably. First time on a big league mound in more than two months, he might have been too amped up in Cleveland. He's gotta keep the ball low. Last night, he recorded seven outs -- four on Ks and three on grounders, including a DP. When he's right, the ball gets hit on the ground.
