Default *Official* 6/14/17 Gonzales Gives It Up Postgamer

Cruising along with a nice four run lead into the middle innings...and then...

Tagged for eight runs on nine hits and two walks.

YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Davidson hit another home run though. This kid may be a nice role player when the team gets good in a few years. He may be a keeper.

Oh by the way Minaya is brutal too.

Shields by the way starts Sunday as he finally comes off the DL that he went on back on April 18th or so.

It annoys me when a veteran starter fails to provide five decent innings. I've been annoyed a lot lately.

Gonzalez got the ground ball he needed, and the defense couldn't get an out from it. Castillo never should have even been up there with the bases loaded.

He didn't get a lot of help in the fourth inning, but that fifth inning was on him. Ridiculous to walk Schoop after an 0-2 count.

Some think Gonzalez is a trade piece. Not a chance.

Oh absolutely. I just thought it was fair to mention that he did get the next two hitters after Castillo, so the throw home that Frazier didn't make led to three extra runs.

In the end, though, it only turns a putrid outing into a less putrid outing, but this team's shortcomings on defense need to be called out.

Davidson is still considered a rookie. If he keeps hitting he might be the 2017 AL Rookie of the Year

Aaron Judge says "hi".

With Pelfrey pitching the 9th last night, it looks like (for now) Shields will take Pelfrey's spot in the rotation. I'd like to see Infante or Minaya sent down and replaced on the active roster by a position player.

That's understandable. The MLB.com game recap from Holland's start the night before last stated that it was the first quality start for the club in 13 games, the longest stretch between quality starts in White Sox history according to STATS.

There is no scenario in which Davidson beats out Aaron Judge, unless Judge gets injured for the season in the next month.

I would love to see an analysis of overall MLB OPS on 0-2 counts, where the pitch is in the strike zone, vs the number of times a batter walks when the pitcher wastes a pitch on 0-2. My gut says the percentages are better for the defense when a pitcher aggressively goes after the batter on 0-2, but I'd like to see some stats to confirm or deny.

I'd throw a ball and try to make it look like a strike. A foot outside or eye level or bounced in front of the plate wastes a pitch with no purpose.

You got your wish, Minaya was sent down today and Ynoa was activated.

It is hard to complain, since we picked up Gonzalez from the scrap heap. He had a nice year last year, and had a nice first few starts, but it looks like people are figuring him out.

Yet another in a long list of "Don't overreact to a good month at the start of the season" players.
