Have the Sox officially put Anderson on the IL yet and made a corresponding move?

High ankle sprain sometimes takes a month or more.

I know he will be out a while but I am asking is he officially on the IL and if so, have the Sox made a corresponding move to call someone else up.

Not a roster move, but not sure it needed its own thread, so I’ll just go ahead and post that the Tribune has named LaMond Pope as their White Sox beat writer.

Sox just made it official placing Anderson on the 10-day IL, DFAing Alonso, recalling Palka and promoting Ross Detwiler.

I’m assuming this means Garcia at SS and Palka in RF. Eloy and Palka in the same OF...

Palka and Cordell should DH, we now have Jay to handle RF and Tilson can take over in CF.

They seem to like Cordell better in CF, but there is plenty of flexibility if Palka DH.

So Collins is relegated to only backup catcher playing time? I thought the entire reason for ditching Alonso was to get Collins more major league plate appearances.

He can back up 1B. If Abreu needs a day off Palka can DH or Abreu can DH and Palka can play RF or ride the bench. Palka does not have to be guarnteed at bats every day to be useful.

I thought Collins would handle that backup 1B spot as a way to get him more playing time.

Basically, they replaced Alonso, who was taking playing time away from Collins, with Palka...who will be taking playing time away from Collins. How is he supposed to get into any kind of groove offensively when he is sitting every second or third day?

So this must mean Moncada is ok to go? Otherwise they’re still quite thin on infielders.
